The Pirate Academy is a series of research festivals and gatherings run at the Art Academy in Bergen, aimed at alternative communal forms, pirate practices, and fugitive art making. Organized by Brandon LaBelle.Within this performance I explored the personal and political sides of grief, considering the ways grief is hidden from view in Western culture and confined by capitalist interests. In the reading, I made a call to listen to grief's urgency and layers. The banner contains a poem by Mary Oliver.
