love is. is a long-term project in collaboration with -p a l m e r a- bergen exploring the role of love in political life. Through poetic interventions into commercial and artistic spaces, love is. questions what love can/can’t/could do within capitalism by way of love poems that take the form of visual installations.
This was the first iteration of love is. which took place inside and outside -p a l m e r a- on valentines day in 2021. It took the form of a love poem printed on a large-scale commercial banner visible through the windows of the gallery; a reading of the poem which projected out onto the street through speakers placed inside the air vents; and a dozen yellow roses which were propagated and re-planted into the soil so new roots could grow from the cut flowers.
